A hydrogen storage alloy capable of reversibly storing hydrogen, the composition of which is TiaVbCrcAldMe, wherein M is at least one element or two elements of Cu, Fe, Co, Ni, Si, Sn, Mo, W, 1.0 ≤ a ≤ 1.6, 0.2 ≤ b ≤ 1.0, 1.0 ≤ c ≤ 1.6, 0.01 ≤ d ≤ 0.5, 0.01 ≤ e ≤ 0.5. The hydrogen storage alloy of the present invention can be smelted by a vacuum arc furnace and a vacuum intermediate frequency induction furnace, and can be cast by vacuum suction casting. The smelted alloy is easily activated and has a maximum hydrogen storage capacity of 4.0% by weight. The alloy is suitable for use as a hydrogen purifier alloy and a fuel cell hydrogen source alloy.
